As part of the ongoing education and community developments at Evanton Wood, plans are afoot to develop and build a natural play trail within the wood. The trail will use the natural features and resources found within the wood and limit the need for any manufactured structures. In partnership with pupils from Park Primary in Invergordon, there will be approximately ten activity areas which will be multipurpose in their use. The intention is to design stations that will inspire imagination, promote healthy activity and lend themselves to supporting CfE outcomes for teachers.
The trail will also add to the ever-growing community provisions within the wood – anyone will be able to use it. Users can complete the full trail, have a go at a few stations, or just try out one as part of a walk around or visit to the wood.
It is hoped that the trail will be completed by the end of 2013. Already the bare bones have been constructed and ideas for stations developed. Evanton Wood will be engaging with all its local schools and community to ensure that the trail meets as many objectives as possible. Watch this space!
