About For Highland Children’s 4 Play Improvement Group
For Highlands Children 4 is the Children’s Service Plan for the Care and Learning Service and its partners. The Plan builds on the work of For Highlands Children 3 and identifies outcomes for children and their families and improvement priorities for the next five years, linking closely with the work of the Early Years Collaborative. This improvement activity is overseen by a Leadership Group, and 14 Improvement Groups.
The For Highland Children’s 4 Play Improvement Group is one of these groups and is made up of Highland Council officers with statutory and third sector partners. It aims to implement the national and local Play Strategies and has the specific aim that 87% of children are actively involved in self-directed ‘free’ play with access to the outdoors daily by 2017 through improved societal:
- acceptance of appropriate risk taking
- expectation of being outside in different weather conditions
- recognition of the importance of self-directed free play for children and young people of all ages
